If there’s one thing that the British public likes more than a Royal Wedding it’s a new Royal baby.
Last May more than eleven million Brits tuned in to watch the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Just five months later Kensington Palace confirmed that Meghan, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, was pregnant and would be expecting a child during the spring of this year.
Speculation has been mounting ever since over what the couple will call their child. Responding to demand, Paddy Power is offering odds on a host of options.
Though the Royal Family has not confirmed if the Duchess is expecting a boy or a girl, one name has emerged as favourite: Diana. Paddy Power are offering odds of 8/1 on the couple naming a daughter after Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The next most likely girls’ names are Alice at 13/1, and Victoria and Grace, both at 14/1.
Should the baby turn out to be a boy, Arthur is the current favourite at 11/1, followed by James and Edward at 14/1.
The second important question considered by Paddy Power is who will serve as godparents to the new baby. Jessica and Ben Mulroney are considered to be the most likely candidates at 2/1, with William and Kate Windsor at 4/1 and George and Amal Clooney at 6/1.
The Canadian Mulroneys may not be well known to British audiences – Ben is a televesion presenter and Jessica a stylist – but the pair attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding, where their children participated as page boys and bridesmaid.
