Erik ten Hag Confirms Cristiano Ronaldo Will Continue To Stay In Manchester United
The hottest summer transfer saga is officially over: Cristiano Ronaldo will remain at Manchester United by the end of January.
Cristiano Ronaldo Will Stay In Manchester United
The Portuguese striker had been linked to a move to a Champions League team, but manager Erik ten Hag has said the striker would play a “big part” this season. The captain came off the bench in United’s match against Leicester on Deadline Day evening.
On Deadline Day, United also announced the £85.4 million acquisition of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. Both players will be able to play against Arsenal on Sunday.
Although Frenkie de Jong will remain with Barcelona, United can still pursue him in January.
Good News For Man United Fans
The news will be sweet to United supporters. The Cristiano transfer saga has surrounded the team all summer and turned the media hype into a circus. After the season ends and the transfer window closes, the team and management will finally be allowed to move on with their season.
Ronaldo might not fit Erik ten Hag’s tactical schemes, but he will be a crucial part of the team. He has slowed down because he is now 37 years old, but he can still score important goals, and his expertise and leadership are unmatched. It might encourage United to take home a trophy this year.
Manchester United’s Manager Commented
Manager Ten Hag has announced that Ronaldo will remain with the team this year. “Of course, it is evident. We require talented athletes. More coverage of all games is required to maintain consistency. We intend to accomplish this,” Ten Hag added.
The Old Trafford team has insisted Ronaldo is not for sale since suggestions that he wants to quit Man Utd first surfaced. Ronaldo’s current deal with Manchester United expires in 2023. Additionally, the Red Devils have the choice to make it last an additional 12 months.
Ronaldo’s Performance This Season For Manchester United
The 22/23 season has not gotten off to the finest start for Ronaldo. He has played in Man Utd’s first four games, although he has yet to score.
For Manchester United’s Premier League season opener against Brighton, Ten Hag left Ronaldo out of the starting lineup. Although Man Utd lost 2-1, the Dutch manager substituted Ronaldo in the 53rd minute. Against Brentford, Ronaldo started again. However, the 37-year-old could not make much of an impact as Brentford easily defeated the Red Devils 4-0.
Ronaldo was once more benched by Ten Hag for the match against Liverpool. One of the four Brentford starters who moved to the bench was him. As a result of Ten Hag’s adjustments, Man Utd defeated Liverpool 2-1 to earn their first victory of the season.
Ronaldo did show up, but it was only at the game’s finish.
Ten Hag used the same starting lineup against Southampton as against Liverpool. Ronaldo had to sit on the substitutes’ bench once more. Ronaldo eventually entered the game as Manchester United added three more significant points in the 68th minute.
In their most recent Premier League match, where Manchester United played against Leicester City, the Portugal Captain was once again benched for most of the match. Manchester United started with the forwards Rashford and Sancho. Sancho scored the only goal of the match and led Manchester United to victory.
Ronaldo did show up on the field as he was substituted in the latter half of the game. Though he could not produce any goals or add much to the final result of the game, the fans cherished seeing Cristiano Ronaldo on the ground for Manchester United again.
New Signings For Manchester United
Since Manchester United’s transfer activity for the summer has come to an end, Antony and Martin Dubravka are the only new additions for the current campaign. Before the match against Leicester City, manager Erik ten Hag stated in the pre-game news conference that the team would not add any additional players.
Ten Hag stated, “I believe we are finished in this timeframe.” However, it was also said that the club would monitor any potential changes.
Only Chelsea has made a larger investment (€269.1 million) than the €238 million the Red Devils spent on new players.
Only the medical is still outstanding in the agreement for Antony that Man United has already completed. Transferring Dubravka is currently only a formality. The goalkeeper will be the sixth edition of the summer when he transfers from Newcastle United to Man United on loan.
The club only received €11.5 million for the sale of 12 players. The club is not expected to sell any major stars. Ten Hag stated, “We will compete with this group from September to at least January.”
According to The Athletic, James Garner might leave the team and sign for Everton for about €17 million.
