Barça & Chelsea Reach An Agreement for Aubameyang For €22 million

Per the Relevo report, Barca and Chelsea have finally agreed on the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyan. The deal was already rumored for quite some time, and only now have things become clear. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will finally be leaving Barca and joining the blues.

The transfer would fetch the Catalans €22 million fixed and €5m in add-ons. Interestingly, Barca signed the 33-year-old Gabonese striker for free following his contract termination with Arsenal after he was accused of indiscipline. Both parties hope the deal will be complete before the current transfer window closes.

Chelsea Was Tenacious In Signing Aubameyang

It was rumored that Chelsea was trying hard to sign the Gabonese striker. However, Barca was only willing to transfer Aubameyang for around €25 to €30 million. Also, Barca wanted to sign the Spanish left-back, 31-year-old Alonso, following his end of the contract with Chelsea in June for €10 million.

The details were cloudy for some time. Will Chelsea end up attracting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? And will FC Barcelona recruit Marcos Alonso well?

But now, things are clear, at least for Aubameyang. He will be joining the blues soon. As for Alonso, Thomas Tuchel believes he is worth more than €10 million, so negotiations are still going on. Incidentally, the deal with Chelsea for Aubameyang will also pave the way for French defender Jules Koundé to finally be registered in La Liga.

Aubameyang Wanted to Stay With BARCA

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on more than one occasion, has expressed his intention to remain at Camp Nou. Besides, Aubameyang’s performance last season was more than satisfactory. He displayed that he is an elite attacker and could be useful for BARCA for the coming season.

However, the addition of Lewandowski took away a lot of limelight from the Gabonese and pushed him toward signing a contract with Chelsea. Moreover, BARCA has been grappling with financial issues lately, which also, in some part, paved the way for Aubameyang’s departure.

All the funds that the transfer of the Gabonese striker brings will be used to sign in the key players needed to maintain a balanced team. On the other hand, Chelsea was missing a pure striker following the departure of Timo Werner and Lukaku; that’s why they were more than willing to close the deal with Catalans and bring the Gabonese striker to their side.

Relevo reports that FC Barcelona has agreed to transfer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea for €22 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

As Aubameyang moved from Arsenal to BARCA for free, everything the Catalans manage to earn from him will be pure profit. The Gabonese striker is ready to wear the blue and join the Chelsea squad. As per the reports, both the clubs have finalized the agreement, and soon the departure of the Gabonese striker will be made official.

Why Chelsea Is Interested In Aubameyang?

The real reason for the blues’ interest in Aube is that Thomas Tuchel’s team seriously lacked a good striker at the beginning of the Premier League. Timo Werner and Romelu recently left Chelsea, and their departure has disturbed the team balance. Chelsea lacks variation, which is apparent in the team’s performance. Only last weekend, Chelsea suffered a humiliating 0-3 defeat to Leeds United. No Chelsea striker has been able to score a goal in recent games. The situation seems grim for the blues, and therefore, they found it best to include Aubameyang on their side.

Aubameyang’s Stint With Arsenal

Before joining the Barcelona squad, Aubameyang had a brilliant run with the English football clubs Arsenal. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored 70 goals in total during his first two and a half years at the North London club.

But following a new, £350,000-a-week contract, things began to turn sour for the striker. Rumors had been that things were not going well between manager Mikel Arteta and Aubameyang. The situation deteriorated further – first, he was removed from the captaincy and subsequently out of the team. Aubameyang finally moved to Camp Nou on a free transfer in the January transfer window this year.

At BRCA, Aubameyang impressed the team management with his performance, helping Xavi’s side secure a place in the top four positions in La Liga. Moreover, he also helps the team reach the Europa League quarter-finals with his stunning goal.

At the time, Xavi was reported to have said, “Auba has practically been a gift from heaven. “He is a positive player. He has come into the dressing room very well. He adapts well to the team; he creates scoring chances, scores, and presses. It is a privilege to train him.”
