Bayern Munich 2-0 Barcelona: Player ratings and Performance

Bayern Munich hosted Barcelona in the group C clash of the UEFA Champions League, held on Tuesday, September 13. The Bavarians outmatched BARCA in every department and won the game 2-0. With this win, Bayern Munich now occupies the top spot in the league.

Needless to say, in the first half, the BARCA strikers put up a disappointing show. Robert Lewandowski, the star striker, missed quite a few good chances, which might have added to the tally and allowed BRCA an early advantage. The first half ended on equal footing; both teams tried, but neither found the nets.

However, the second half of this high-tempo game was a different story. A quick double from Lucas Hernández and Leroy Sané soon put Beyarn Munich in the lead. Until the last whistle, Barcelona couldn’t overcome the goal difference and lost the game 2-0.

For the German Club, it was the 8th win against the Spanish powerhouse, Barcelona. The recent group C win against Barcelona put FC Bayern at the top spot with six points. Barcelona is next in line; however, they share the same three points with Internal, who defeated Viktoria Pilsen but are ahead based on goal difference.

When two European Giants collide, sparks are bound to occur. The same happened in the FC Bayern Vs. Barcelona Game. Both teams began the high voltage match with much enthusiasm. Both sides equally tried the nets but failed. Most importantly, Lewandowski ultimately failed to convert two golden opportunities.

Earlier in the game, Bayern Munich suffered a setback when Benjamin Pavard, the right-back, had to leave the field following an injury. He was replaced by Noussair Mazraoui. Soon after, Gavi and Pederi led the attack from Barcelona’s side and took the ball deep inside Bayern’s defense; however, the shot taken by Pedri went far off the nets.

Barcelona Better Opponent In First Half

In the first half, Barcelona was a much better team. They were fluid and agile and created some great chances. However, the failure of Lewandowski hurt them the most and cost them the game. Although the game ended in Bayern’s favor, the visitors could have taken the lead several times in the first half.

Bayern’s midfielder tried hard to get past their half but often failed. Pedri, the young striker from Barcelona’s side, went hard in the 9th minute but could not score. Similarly, Lewandowski got chances in the game’s 18th, 21st, and 43rd minutes but failed miserably against his former teammates.

Moreover, the hosts got lucky too on one occasion, or the lead could have been one-goal smaller. Just before the end of the first half, Ousmane Dembélé and Alphonso Davies intertwined, and Dembélé fell. Slow motion replay revealed that the action corresponded to a foul, but the video assistant didn’t intervene, and Beyarn was spared a penalty.

FC Bayern Aced Second Half

Success came quickly for FC Bayern in the second half. Bayern took a 2-0 lead with a quick double strike. First, Hernandez found himself unchecked at a corner kick. He took no time directing the ball to the nets at the first post.

Next, Right-back Noussair Mazraoui proved the coach’s decision to send him in for the injured Benjamin Pavard when he played to Jamal Musiala, who quickly sent it to Sané’s way. The German winger then juggled past Marc-André ter Stegen and successfully took the shot to the nets.

Found itself exactly where needed. Most importantly checked the charging Lewandowski.

Netted the ball but struggled against the over-enthusiastic Gavi.

Excellent show of speed and dribbling skills. Made outstanding attempts in the attack.

Was everywhere on the field. Alongside, Sabitzer made some successful tackles and aced the second half.

⚽  Marcel Sabitzer – 6/10

Like Kiamichi, Sabitzer too contributed well to fend off Barcelona’s attack.

⚽  Jamal Musiala – 7/10

Showed grit and exceptional dribbling talent, in addition to the excellent run with Sane that converted into a goal.

⚽  Leroy Sane – 7/10

Not in great shape and ruined some great chances. However, amended the wrong of the first half with a goal in the second half.

Strategic placement away from his usual position allows him to engage Barca defenders and keep them at bay successfully.

Disappointing performance; it ruined some chances that might have given his team an advantage.
