Arsène Wenger is known for keeping his cards close to his chest, and speculation on his next career move has been throwing up major discrepancies in the odds markets as a result.

Unusually, only two bookmakers in the United Kingdom – Skybet and Ladbrokes – are now offering any markets of any description on the Frenchman’s next managerial role.

Bookies Far From Agreement

Bayern Munich appear to have emerged as favorites for bookmakers at Skybet with odds having now fallen to 4/7 (implied probability 63%) from 5/7 (implied probability 58%) over the course of the week. Ladbrokes, on the other hand, have closed their own market for the same outcome.

Interestingly, however, where both bookmakers are still going head-to-head, the odds are diverging significantly. For an appointment with the French national team, Skybet is offering 8/1 whilst Ladbrokes appear to place more weight on the likelihood of such an outcome with odds at a significantly reduced 7/2.

For a move to PSG, Skybet are offering 10/1 whilst Ladbrokes, once again, are going shorter at 6/1. True to form, Wenger himself is giving nothing away although he has hinted that he expects to be in a job by January 1st of 2019.

Having previously hesitated on his next career move, the former Arsenal manager has since confirmed that he will be returning to management. “I want to continue to defend my ideas of football, that’s for sure,” he stated earlier in the year.
