Strictly Come Dancing may have only just ended for this year, but bookies are already taking bets on who will be competing in next year’s competition.
According to William Hill, the most likely candidate for next year’s contest is Steph McGovern, who is being offered at 5/1. McGovern is a journalist who covers financial and business news for the BBC Breakfast programme and was one of the names strongly rumoured to be appearing in this year’s series of Strictly. She is known to be a fan of the show, even appearing in the live audience, so it would be no great surprise to see her taking part.
Among the other favourites for next year’s lineup are popstar Olly Murs at 6/1 and actress Samantha Womack at 7/1.
This weekend, documentary filmmaker Stacey Dooley won the coveted Glitter Ball Trophy, as predicted by betting markets.
Reality show veteran offered at 8/1
Of all the suggested candidates for next year, Emily Atack stands out as a potential value bet at 8/1. Atack went into this year’s “I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of here!” as a relatively unknown actress.
However, her charisma and comfort in a bikini charmed the British public, and she ended her time in the jungle as the highest placed female contestant and second overall behind the hotly tipped Harry Redknapp. Participating in another high profile reality competition would seem a natural move, particularly given her experience on 2010’s series of “Dancing on Ice”, where she finished in 7th place.
