Skybet – the only bookmaker currently offering comprehensive markets on 2019’s Glastonbury Headline act – has just updated its prices for the thirty-five acts currently on its books.
The Cure now join Stormzy as joint favourites on 1/3 to lead Britain’s largest outdoor music festival, whilst Paul McCartney now enters the top five favourites as his own odds shorten to 8/11.
Madonna, who was previously priced at 2/1 by Ladbrokes as late as June and who has never played at Glastonbury during her 30-year career, appears set to retain her no-show tradition as she now falls back to 6/1.
Oasis Glastonbury Reunion Unlikely
Perhaps the biggest surprise – and disappointment – in the Glastonbury odds markets concerns Oasis. The undisputed Kings of 90’s Britpop had been priced as low as 5/2 in July by Ladbrokes as the rumour mill gathered pace on a 2019 reunion.
Skybet has since revised its own odds downwards, however, to 20/1 as new rumors emerge from NME that the Gallagher brothers are more likely to feature as separate acts – if they show up at all.
Odds markets are still relatively short at around 5/1, however, on a 2019 reunion for Manchester’s most famous musical sons. There has yet been no formal refusal from the Gallagher brothers after revelations in late September by the Irish Mirror that a “huge offer” – thought by some to be as high as £5 million – remains on the table from the organisers of next summer’s gig at Slane Castle.
Should Oasis decide to regroup for the festival just outside Dublin, the timing would coincide with the 25th anniversary of its landmark debut album, Definitely Maybe.
