Paddy Power have cut their odds on Dua Lipa winning the Best New Artist at the 61st Grammy Awards this coming weekend. The British singer is now being offered at 13/8 to win the prestigious prize.
However, despite the surge in interest, betting markets are continuing to favour H.E.R. at 11/10. The enigmatic H.E.R. (“Having Everything Revealed”) broke through to the public consciousness with her cover of Drake’s “Jungle”, and her debut album, The Prelude, scored the singer a Number 1 on the Billboard R&B albums chart. She is also nominated at the Grammys for Best R&B song for Focus.
Rock band Greta Van Fleet rounds out the favourites in this category at 13/2.
Lipa, Brits and Bond
Last year Lipa received nominations in five different categories at the Brit Awards, winning for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. It was the first time a female artist had received so many nominations in the same year.
Lipa’s rise to stardom has been so assured that there are already rumours that she will be performing the title song to the next James Bond film. Though Lipa denied that anything official had been decided, she said that she, “would absolutely love to do it.”Though Richard Madden had appeared to be nailed on as the next actor to take on the iconic role, his odds with Paddy Power have now slipped to 11/4, third favourite behind Tom Hiddleston at 11/10 and James Norton at 2/1.
