John Travolta Kelly Preston

The Screen Actors Guild Awards may have given some more indicators about who will claim Oscar success this year, but what of the other end of the critical spectrum?

According to bookmaker William Hill, Gotti is the 5/4 favourite to scoop the dubious honour of the year’s worst film at the Golden Raspberry Awards next month.

Gotti tells the story of New York gangster John Gotti and his reign as head of the Gambino Crime family. Johnny Oleksinski in the New York Post described it as “the worst mob movie of all time” and wrote that he would “rather wake up next to a severed horse head than ever watch “Gotti” again.”

Will Travolta Attend the Ceremony?

Founded in 1981, the Golden Raspberry Awards, known as the Razzies, are given on the day before the Oscars. Usually nominees do not attend in person, though Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock famously went to the ceremony to pick up their awards.

Gotti could achieve a clean sweep of major categories. In addition to its worst film nomination, it is also in contention for worst screenplay and worst director. Its stars, Travolta and Kelly Preston, are nominated in the worst acting awards.

Gotti is one of a select group of films to hold a 0% rating on film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Also on that list are Staying Alive and Look Who’s Talking Now, both of which star Travolta.

The other films in the running for the worst picture Razzie are puppet comedy the Happytime Murders at 7/4, Will Ferrell vehicle Holmes & Watson at 4/1, Robin Hood at 5/1 and horror film Winchester at 7/1.
