Since Game of Thrones started back in 2011 one question above all others has obsessed the show’s army of fans: which of the characters will win the game in question? Who will finish the story as ruler of the Seven Kingdoms?
With the final season scheduled to start in April, British bookmaker William Hill has started to offer odds on which of the major players will win the deadly game of musical chairs and be sat on the Iron Throne when the music stops.
At the moment there is a clear favourite, Bran Stark, who is nearing even money at 11/10. Bran, the fourth child of former Lord of Winterfell Ned Stark, was involved in the most dramatic moment of the first episode when he was thrown from a building by the villainous Jaime Lannister. Paralysed from the waist down, Bran nevertheless discovered that he had supernatural gifts, including prophetic visions known as the “greensight”.
Joint second favourites are “Mother of Dragons” Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow at 4/1. Behind them is Bran’s sister Sansa Stark at 8/1.
William Hill are also offering odds on several other potential plot developments. That Jamie Lannister will kill his sister Cersei is available at 8/11. The return of fan favourite Hodor as a White Walker is given at 6/4, while the death of Stark sisters Arya and Sansa is at 3/1.
