One of the biggest shows in the British TV calendar is about to roll into action once again. “I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of here!” will start its eighteenth series this Sunday, and bookies disagree on who is most likely to win.
The programme takes a selection of celebrities, known to varying degrees by the British public, and puts them through a series of challenges. The public then vote off the candidates who displease them until only one remains, the so called king or queen of the jungle. Previous winners Scarlett Moffatt, Christopher Biggins and Joe Swash have all seen their profiles substantially boosted by the show.
The full line-up is yet to be officially confirmed, though the Sun newspaper, which usually has good access to this kind of information, has said we should expect singers Fleur East and James McVey, actors Sair Khan, Rita Simons, Emily Atack, and Malique Thompson- Dwyer, quiz show star Anne Hegerty, football manager Harry Redknapp and TV handyman Nick Knowles.
Bookies are currently split on the relative chances of the contestants, though all agree that British soap star Sair Khan has a good chance of emerging victorious from the jungle in December.
William Hill has both Khan and Seann Walsh as joint favourites at 6/1. Skybet also has Khan favourite at 6/1 with Anne Hegerty, Emily Atack and Harry Redknapp at 8/1. Ladbrokes has Hegerty favourite at 5/1, with Khan at 6/1, and Aaron Chambers, Fleur East and Rita Simons at 8/1.
